So you’re thinking of migrating to Australia? Here are 10 reasons to seriously consider Regional Australia.
Australia is a beautiful and exciting country with lots of opportunities for migrants, especially in regional areas.
The Australian Government has introduced reforms and incentives to encourage migrants to live and work in regional areas. “Regional” means anywhere outside of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
This is because there are skills gaps in regional areas that skilled migrants can help fill.

Here are 10 great reasons to live and work in regional Australia.
1. Numerous career opportunities
Due to the rapid economic growth of Australia, the number of industries has started expanding. Therefore, numerous career opportunities are available for skilled migrants with different skills.
Actors, dancers and other entertainers, accommodation and hospitality managers, architects, archaeologists, blacksmiths, carpenters, chefs, engineers, goat farmers, homeopaths, naturopaths, nurses, pilots, scientists, surgeons, teachers, tradies, zookeepers, and more.
Check the eligible skilled occupation list to see what other skills are eligible for visas at this time.

2. Affordable housing
Compared to the main cities, regional areas have lower housing costs and a higher standard of living.
Rent in regional centres can be up to 30% to 50% cheaper than Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
With shorter commutes and more space, the cost of living, in general, is significantly lower in regional areas.
3. More sponsored Regional Australia jobs in NT
The Northern Territory has a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA). This means there are more jobs accepted to be sponsored than in any other state.
Our director Manuela Seiberth was interviewed about regional migration and the DAMA by national media. Read her ABC interviews here and here. Listen to her SBS Radio interview here, and watch the ABC News story here.
4. Quality of life
Imagine being in a safe location with a low population level, clean water, low pollution and plenty of fresh air available. Not to mention stunning natural landscapes, wonderful wildlife, and breath-taking scenery. Australians are also known for their laid-back lifestyle and enjoying a relaxing time with family and friends.
If you and your family are wanting to enjoy a high quality of life, then you can’t go wrong with living and working in regional Australia.
5. Great healthcare system
Australia’s health system is one of the best in the world. It provides quality, safe and affordable health care for you and your family. It’s a key reason why we enjoy one of the longest life expectancies in the world.
6. High-quality educational system
Australia also includes a fantastic higher education system and consistently ranks in the top 10 countries around the world for education quality. Furthermore, 6 Australian universities placed in the top 100 world university rankings.
Government-run primary and secondary schools here are free with compulsory education. They’re generally smaller and well funded so children can get a quality education.

7. Wonderful scenery and pleasant climate
Due to the huge size of the country, Australia has several different climate zones. The northern section of Australia has a more tropical influenced climate, hot and humid in the summer, and quite warm and dry in the winter, while the southern parts are cooler with mild summers and cool, sometimes rainy winters.
All around there are breathtaking natural sites like charming countrysides, wonderful beaches, calming rainforests, spectacular rock formations, gorgeous vineyards, and more.
Residents here often enjoy outdoor activities like bushwalking, camping, swimming, and fishing.

8. Multicultural society
People in Australia celebrate multiculturalism and there are lots of communities and clubs to connect with people of similar and diverse backgrounds.
Australia ranks as the most successful multicultural society in the world.
9. Welcoming communities
Far from being isolated, most regional areas have well established and welcoming communities of migrants.
Integrating into a new community can be one of the largest challenges for anyone moving to a new town or regional city.
However, if you stay long enough and make the effort to connect and communicate with others, you’ll likely eventually feel like a valued community member.
10. Work-life balance
Regional Australians value time off work to connect with family and friends, enjoy a barbeque (or “barbie” as the locals like to say), relax in nature, taste the great food and fresh local produce, and pursue hobbies.
Regional areas in particular offer relaxed and diverse lifestyles.
